Resolved: Coast Dental - Deep Cleaning Scam
6/5/19 St Petersburg FL
Was just in the office for xrays and consultation, told me I needed a deep cleaning badly and they could work me in right then if I agreed to it. I was hesitant and she is like no worries you have great insurance it will only cost you $164 like I was getting a deal.
One girl went around my mouth dabbing orajel all around my gums. Few minutes later another girl comes in and almost drowns me a few times spraying high pressure water around my entire gum line, afterwards she picks at a total of 6 of my teeth for less than 10 minutes total and is like ok all done.
The bill was $584. I went home and priced out deep cleanings and what they consist of, and realized they screwed me out of half of my total dental insurance for the year.
I am not happy I have real dental work I need done like fillings and crowns that I can now not afford to get done. Then they have the balls to try and charge me $426 out of pocket for a mouth guard that the dentist had already told me an over the counter one would work just as well for me.
Reason of review: Pricing issue.
Monetary Loss: $400.
Preferred solution: Price reduction.
Coast Dental Pros: Staff.
Coast Dental Cons: Being hustled for more expensive procedures.
Location: 7801 Dr Martin Luther King Jr St N, Saint Petersburg, FL 33702

OTC mouthguards usually don't fit worth anything so patients don't wear them. I can't say if you needed deep cleaning or not.
Most of the time, it is a big scam by these crooked corporate clinics.
However, the gums MUST BE HEALTHY before doing crowns. It is impossible to get a good impression for a crown if the gums are bleeding.
